The key idea for this landscape intervention sought to replicate the effectiveness of the notion proposed in Robert Smithsons, Spiral Jetty, which allows the land around an installation to be claimed by the sea during high tides.

To achieve this ambition, in this proposal I have set all the paths and roads introduced as part of the masterplan to a datum of 3m above sea level, which is the datum of the Ayre embankment - which encloses the peedie sea.

The land that is enclosed by the network of paths is stepped down in - 1-metre increments and will be allowed to flood gradually, Disappearing, being swallowed up by the rising tides until only the paths remain.
