The proposed community centre is designed to allow the community take part in caring for the elderly, thus making the seniors day care a vital space that should be intentionally designed. The senior’s day care is located on the far right of the south wing and shares a courtyard with the café on the opposite side. Located on the far left of the south wing, the children and senior’s day care share a reception area to encourage migration and social interactions between them.
Research was carried out on the effects and manipulation of natural light in Nordic regions where southern light is not in abundance. This involved revisions on the location and size openings, surface angles and positions within the space. The following images were created based on the results and redesign of accurate lighting stimulations of the day care at specified hours of the four seasonal months.
